Spiral Quilt

£2,500.00

Last year we had a mast acorn harvest from the local oak trees. There were so many you could bag them up without worrying you were taking food away from animals. Over the winter I used the acorns to dye up the charcoal sections of this patchwork quilt - it’s slow work as it takes lots of layering with the dye. It sits alongside a cream linen dyed with chestnut, with dashes of turquoise made with weld from my garden over dyed with indigo.

Patchworked into a spiral that makes your eyes dance a little, stretching out into a double sized quilt. I’ve hand quilted this one with a hand quilting cotton, much lighter in weight than sashiko but very strong.

  • The batting is 100% organic wool, making for a lovely, squishy weight and feel.

  • Top, bottom and binding is 100% linen, sewn with cotton thread.

  • Measures approx. 210 × 210cm.

  • Hand wash when needed with a gentle eco laundry liquid and dry flat.

  • Hand dyed and sewn in my home in Bath, UK.

*The first image is of me finishing the quilting, before threads were trimmed and the binding added
